“Punk – from Chaos to Couture” Met Gala 2013. I think we got punked.

Punk  /pəNGk/ a. A young person, especially a member of a rebellious counterculture group. When I think punk it’s spiked hair, tartan worn with erratic pink, eyeliner and leather, tattoos and jeans, rocking out to the ramones, the clash, & sex pistols.

I know I’m a little late to the Met recap game but I like waiting all the photo’s are in as it’s usually the lesser knows who dress to thrill. Let’s start with the bland.

This year for the Met Gala did the Anne Wintour’s handpicked invitees decide they were too punk to Punk. That their anti-establishment attitude precluded them to dress according to theme. Floral, lace, and flowing wedding gowns were rampant on the red-carpet. This includes Mrs. Wintour who’s custom cap-sleeved Chanel was indeed stunning for a garden party

Bee Shaffer, your mother is the most powerful women in the fashion industry and this is what you come up with, bland!

Heidi, Katie, and Emma are all over the place in  flowery flowy white. A messy bun and thick eyeliner doesn’t make it punk.

I would love to say that Kristen Stewart killed it. BUT, I can’t forgive this gigantic camel-toe. I mean come on."PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaSame goes for Cameron Diaz, there was potential (the colour is so rich) but the cape I don’t get (and I love capes)…It’s just so heavy and futuristic and a miss for me.

"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaSolange Knowels is stuck in the 60’s. I expect Austin Powers to be her date.

Jessica Biel opted for as safe as punk could be. Oh, she’s pretty punk.

Ashely Green is scary punk and a complete mess.

While, Michelle Williams missed the punk completely and just went for princess.

The Green Brigade was again futuristic, boring and confusing. Kate Uptown should be barred from future red-carpets with a sagging green sack like that. Brooklyn Decker looks like robo doll. Kristin Dunst’s feathers remind me of Oscar the Grouch. RHW looks like some cheesy goddess recreation from an old movie and Ivanka was super daring by adding green stripes to her hair. I see no punk here.

Most disappointing Gwen Stefani. She is punk and this is what she wore, bore.

Carolyn Murphy and Nina Ricci look like they are off to flamingo dancing. "PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Gala

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are both wearing amazing outfits perfect for stepping off the Orient Express.

Maggie Gyllenhaal again is punkish and gave us weird red boobs instead. Why is her perfect pixy hair not spiked in the slightest?

Kate Beckinsale is off to the Moulin Rouge.

These three (Minka Kelly, Kerry Washington, and Jessica Alba) I couldn’t think of anything to say beyond yawn.yawn.

Greyness is all we got from Laura Santo Domingo, Karlie Kloss and Linda Evangelista. Our great Canadian Supermodel is auditioning for Lord of the Rings, LSD is ? and Karlie Kloss with the help of Louis Vitton just makes me angry at the embroidered ugliness of the doily she’s wearing.

And, finally Kim Kardashian she made it to her first Met Gala and she wore this.

Like I said before, I think we got Punked!kim-kardashian-met-pregnant-galaOut with the bad and onto the great!
